An Arts & Crafts style coffee table made for Jacque LaRocca's birthday, 2001 (only a few weeks late in this case!)

The Design: Jacque and I played around quite a bit with a design while I was finishing up the 4 poster bed. We settled on a modified design from the book Classic Arts & Crafts Furniture You Can Build by Andy Schultz (ISBN: 1558704906 ) I played with the dimensions and added the stretcher underneath. Instead of using quarter sawn oak (too much $$$) - I used red oak through out. The top is edge laminited 1 1/2" oak using dowls and Gorilla glue (excellent stuff by the way!)

The finish is a light cherry finish along with tung oil and wax. The stain did not soak in well as the oak was very, very, very hard but it did evenly darken the piece. Another extremely heavy piece of furniture!

The Tools: I used the same tools for this project as I did for the 4 poster bed so please see there.
